Make sure of a full service history, I personally wouldn't own a car like that of that age - it will have been ragged for every single one of it's miles.
I had one a few years back, I loved it but I ended up too confident in it, sold it before I ended up in the Hospital.

had a 170 in Panther Black and a 230 in burnt orange.
Mates that are ST petrol heads are scooping up the old 170s for some reason.

lab, I'm going for performance blue, not the orange. I went out in one the other day and was pootling along for most of the 20 mins I was in it until I put my foot down coming into the dual carriageway and oh my goodness, that car flies. Felt like I was in the space shuttle! I'm going to drive it sensibly but just want some real power when I need it.
And the handling, immense. It felt like it was on rails. Hammer, I've not diven a golf and the GTI might be a more than decent motor, but I'm a bit of a Ford man and prefer the look of the Focus!

Went to look at the new mondeo yesterday, monthly payments come back at £580 (only a grand down which is owed equity in my current car) - couldn't believe it. Gonna look at second hand jags.

In response to the OP. They are wicked cars, hated by golf drivers simply because they are better and quicker in every way. Either get one or wait for rs later this year I think.
